Developing tomorrow’s talent

An internationally recognised brand in the media industry identified a need to provide development for a specific level of operational staff for whom there was no clear career path. Rather than risk de-motivation, stagnation or loss through neglect, they asked us to develop and deliver a long term programme of group and individual development and career coaching. The purpose of the programme was to demonstrate recognition, re-energise people and prepare them either for internal transfer or transfer within the industry, with the intention of recruiting them back after gaining experience elsewhere.

We have now run 8 iterations of the programme, which runs over a period of six months. A third of participants have been promoted into new roles in different departments, a third have remained in post with a new motivation and the rest have moved on to other organisations in the industry retaining a strong relationship with their previous employer. All participants have found the programme made a significant difference to their levels of motivation and performance.

A ninth iteration is due to start later in 2006.
